Pay attention to what is happening—not only what you expected to happen.
CU Denver alumni event · November 4, 2026
A lively, practical 90-minute alumni event with On Your Feet (and hopefully Dean Scott Dawson)—built around learning by doing.
See what to expect
What to expect
This is an event you’ll experience, not simply watch. Through welcoming activities and conversation, you’ll explore a few improv-inspired tools, practice them with other alumni, and connect what happens in the room to situations that matter in your own life.
You won’t be asked to perform, be funny, or come up with clever lines. The work is playful, purposeful, and designed so everyone can take part.
The improv mindset
These are not performance skills. They are everyday habits for navigating change, collaborating with other people, and moving forward when the answer is not obvious.

Pay attention to what is happening—not only what you expected to happen.

Release the plan, assumption, or answer that no longer serves the moment.

Turn ideas, constraints, and surprises into useful material.
What you’ll leave with
A shared language for staying open and adaptive.
Firsthand practice using the tools with other people.
A clearer connection between improv and everyday life.
